Alongside Marie and Mark, who you will meet next, you will also discover the requirements and restrictions for choosing a business name, the main tax laws and regulations in Europe in general, and in your country of residence in particular. Marie was placed in the assisted care system briefly after her parents passed away when she was very young. However, she was fortunate to be taken in by a caring and supportive family member who raised her as one of their own. Growing up in a nurturing environment, Marie was encouraged to pursue her interests, and her talent for graphic design flourished during her teenage years. Marie’s experience of being taken in and loved by her extended family inspired her business idea. She wishes to create an online platform that connects young adults who have aged out of state care with caring families willing to provide mentorship and support. She envisions an intuitive platform that matches the interests and preferences of both parties, fostering meaningful relationships and helping young adults find stability and guidance as they transition to independent living. Marie’s desire to give back to the community stems from her own experience of being embraced by a caring family during a difficult time. She believes that everyone deserves a chance to have a supportive network of people who genuinely care for their well-being.
While Marie is talented in graphic design and has a clear vision for her online platform, she faces challenges in developing a robust and secure website that can handle matching and communication between families and young adults effectively. Additionally, she needs guidance on the legal aspects related to creating a safe environment for both parties involved. You will learn more about Marie throughout this activity!
Mark had a different upbringing from Marie, as he grew up in the state care system after being orphaned at a young age. He spent his early years in various foster homes before eventually moving to an assisted care facility. Despite the hardships, he found solace in the beauty of nature and developed a deep love for the environment. Mark’s determination and perseverance helped him excel academically, and he managed to secure a scholarship to study environmental science at a local university. Mark’s experience in the assisted care system taught him the importance of building a supportive community and caring for others.
He dreams of opening an eco-friendly store that not only offers sustainable products but also serves as a space for community gatherings, workshops on sustainable living, and mentoring opportunities for young adults who have aged out of state care. He aims to create a nurturing environment where they can develop life skills and find guidance for their future. Mark’s desire to make a positive impact on the lives of those who have experienced a difficult upbringing drives him to pursue this business idea. While Mark is passionate about his business idea, he lacks experience in entrepreneurship and running a retail store. He needs assistance in navigating the legal and financial aspects of starting a business, as well as in marketing and attracting customers to support his cause. You’ll meet Mark during this activity.
Both Mark and Marie‘s backgrounds have influenced their business ideas, and their past experiences have shaped their motivations to make a positive impact on the lives of others. They both have the determination to pursue their dreams, but they need support and guidance to turn their visions into successful ventures. With the right assistance, they hope to create businesses that bring positive change to the lives of those who have experienced similar challenges. Mark suggests that there might be guidance and grants available to facilitate this, so Marie begins searching for more information.
The country of origin and the country of residence are not necessarily the same. People can be born in one country (their country of origin) and later move or establish their residence in another country (their country of residence).
